4 Full & Fabulous Months!

Hi dearest friends,

Many people have asked how I am doing and I realized it has been over 4 months since my last update.

As I was reflecting on the past 4 months, I realized a lot of milestones have transpired.  It has been a full and fabulous past four months!

In January, Jack and I started looking into adopting from Uganda.

I also interviewed and was offered fulltime employment.  Later in the month, I was informed that my body was not strong enough for fulltime employment and now doctors are learning that it takes 2-3 years to recover from my surgery.  I took a leap of faith and declined the job opportunity because I do not want a relapse in my healing.  Instead, in February I began part-time employment that has a lot of flexibility and I thoroughly enjoy it.

At the end of February, while Jack was in Israel and I was in NC, we found out our offer on a short-sale home was accepted. (This particular home my mom and I first spotted in January 2013 as we walked the neighborhood during my first month recovering from surgery. Our new home is truly like none other, because the original owner was an architect and designed it for himself and his wife).

In March, we frantically completed paperwork and had settlement on our new home March 28th.   We weren’t sure when we were going to move, so I spent a fair amount of time packing boxes, and ended up blowing out a vain in my leg from lifting boxes and carrying them up and down stairs.

April was a month of celebration. I was able to celebrate with my sister at her baby shower and see lots of friends while visiting Lancaster.

We moved in the beginning of May (thanks to the help of some buff Beaufort friends and my selfless mother – who flew down just to help clean and unpack).  In the midst of the move we also found out more details with regards to adopting from Uganda.  We are pursuing adopting twins who are currently 2 months old.

I am writing this update from Western Maryland where Jack and I have enjoyed a respite on Deep Creek Lake.  On this trip, we also visited my alma mater and got to see some dear friends and prayer warriors in Ohio.

In this relatively short period of time, God provided a permanent home for our future forever children and additional income to assist with fees.  We have been blessed to see family and friends and we continue to grow roots in Beaufort.

My body is feeling the best it has felt in years.  I still have hiccups with pain and blacking out, but thankfully these are not daily occurrences.

Last, but certainly not least, my beloved husband has lost over 40 pounds in the past 4 months.  During my illness food helped comfort him and this year (2014) our goal is both to become healthier and stronger.  I am so proud of him for his dedication and perseverance.  Only God knows when we will become parents, but we are getting ourselves prepared and eagerly anticipating the new season ahead.

Prayers for our future forever children, their caretakers, and all those involved in the lengthy paperwork process would be greatly appreciated.  Thankfully, we serve a God who is in control and has divine timing.  Thus, we are trusting fully in the Lord’s provision and timing.  As always, I would be honored to pray for you or a loved one.

With a rejoicing and grateful heart,
Becky
